The silver is not hallmarked but tested as at least 3rd grade silver 800 1000. The tongs feature a chased depiction, beautifully hammered out. The tongs are engraved with stippling: J. M. M. 9 Febr. 1844. At the top of the tongs, there is a small crack of approx. 6 mm; please see the photo for this. Weight: 32 grams. Length: 15 cm, width 5 cm.
